A visit of Department of Political Science, University of Colorado Denver, USA to the May 18 Foundation Memorial on Monday, June 17, 2019





In 2018, Tony Robinson and his students arrived at study visit to the May 18 Memorial Foundation. The May 18 Memorial Foundation Secretary-General Mr Lee Gi-bong provides detailed historical and background information about the May 18 Democratic Gwangju Uprising, 1980. 


The Students were extremely interested in the Social Movements that change the country’s political and Governance system like the May 18 Gwangju Democratic Uprising. The Students also asked various questions about the roots of the Uprising, the spirit of the Uprising and its impact on modern democracy. 

Moreover, students also asked questions about activities of the Foundation such as education, culture, exchange, and distortion of the history of the May 18 Gwangju Democratic Uprising and the May 18 Foundation, movies, taxi drivers, and democracy in Korea.

Professor Tony Robinson and Professor Jim Min-sun were interested in the international photo exhibition of the May 18 Democratization Movement, which is being conducted by the May 18 Foundation globally. 



In the last, the Foundation presents the souvenir book “Gwangju Diary: Beyond Death and Beyond the Darkness of Age” to all visitors. The students also visited the May 18 Uprising arts.
